President John F. Kennedy’s mysterious assassination continues to be a fascinating mystery in modern American history.

The Nix family is suing the National Archives in an effort to get their hands on a rare home movie shot by Orville Nix. The shooting of President John F. Kennedy at Dealey Plaza is depicted in this movie as a crucial moment in history, with a clear shot of the famed grassy knoll.
Nix’s film rights were purchased by the UPI for 25 years in 1963.
The movie was supposed to be given back to Nix or his heirs in 1988.

The UPI gave the video to the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1978. The assassination of President Kennedy was the result of a conspiracy, according to the report of the committee.
The video is being kept at the National Archives, although Nix’s family has expressed a desire to have their film returned.
According to The New York Post:
For a 25-year license, the UPI press office paid Nix $5,000 in 1963, which is equivalent to $50,000 today. Nix gave UPI his reel, with the promise that it would be returned in 1988.
The rights were transferred to Nix’s wife and children after his death in 1972. When the original film from UPI was subpoenaed by the House Special Committee on Assassinations in 1978, they were never informed.
The lawsuit describes the stunningly careless management of the irreplaceable piece of American history by the government after then, highlighting sporadic documentation and insufficient security.
The National Archives and Records Administration is accused of lying to the family on numerous occasions by denying ever having the “out-of-camera original” film in their possession.
The family of Nix is hopeful that advances in technology will enable them to improve photos of the grassy knoll and determine whether a shooter fired the fatal shot at President Kennedy from there.
And many people are wondering why the Biden administration won’t just make this video public.
I believe the secret service agent in the car behind Kennedy shot him. May have been an accident. Check the video he stands up with rifle in hand just as the driver floored the car. Watch closely.
