According to the Oversight Committee, “The FBI has five days to produce the requested FD-1023 record that alleges a $5 million bribery scheme involving then-VP Biden.”

The Committee continued “If the FBI doesn’t produce the record, Rep James Comer will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”

The breaking news is as follows:

Here is the official report from the House Oversight Committee:

James Comer (R-Kentucky), the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) are criticizing FBI Director Christopher Wray today for ignoring a congressional subpoena for an unclassified record alleging a criminal scheme involving Joe Biden and a foreign national. The document, an FBI-created FD-1023 form, purports to describe a deal involving the trade of financial compensation for making policy choices. Chairman Comer has issued a fresh letter to Director Wray warning that the Oversight Committee would begin contempt of Congress procedures if the FBI does not deliver the document by May 30, 2023.

“The FBI’s refusal to provide this single document is obstructionist. Whistleblower disclosures that Joe Biden may have been involved in a criminal bribery scheme as Vice President track closely with what we are seeing in our investigation into the Biden family’s influence peddling schemes. Congress and the American people need to know what, if anything, the FBI did to verify the allegations contained within this record. If Director Wray refuses to hand over this unclassified record, the Oversight Committee will begin contempt of Congress proceedings,” said Chairman Comer.

Due to the fact that the phrase “Biden” appeared in a large number of relevant documents in the FBI’s June 2020 confidential human source database, the FBI staff informed Oversight Committee staff that the search criteria contained in Chairman Comer’s subpoena were broad. Chairman Comer is limiting the scope of the subpoena by adding two terms that may be used in the FD-1023 form: “June 30, 2020” and “five million.” These terms relate to the date on the FD-1023 form and its reference to the amount of money the foreign national is alleged to have paid to obtain the desired policy outcome.

The DC Enquirer reports:

James Comer, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, took substantial action on Wednesday to declare FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress.

“[Rep. James Comer] threatens to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings if FBI Director Christopher Wray continues to defy his subpoena,” the House Oversight’s official Twitter account posted. “The FBI has failed to produce the unclassified record that alleges a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national. This record is two weeks past due.”

According to the tweet’s further claims, “FBI employees indicated the search parameters provided in the subpoena were broad since there were many relevant documents including the term ‘Biden’ in its sensitive human source database for June 2020. In order to limit the scope of the subpoena, Chairman Comer has added two new terms that may be used in the record: “June 30, 2020” and “five million.”

The tweet finished with a threat meant to get FBI Director Wray to take action.

“If Director Wray fails to produce the record by May 30, 2023, the Oversight Committee will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings. The accountability we promised the American people is coming,” the tweet concluded.
