Explosive Emails Show Ocasio-Cortez Was WARNED

According to emails just made public, a lawyer advised Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-staff Cortez’s not to accept Vogue’s offer for her to attend this year’s Met Gala since doing so may be seen as an ethical breach because of possible conflicts of interest.

“The lawyer warned that Vogue’s parent company, Advance Media Publications, was a registered lobbyist and appeared to suggest that she could attend the gala if she had an invite from event organizers. Ocasio-Cortez and her boyfriend accepted the tickets to the gala,” According to the Washington Examiner.

“The Congresswoman could accept an invitation from [the Met], but not from Vogue,” According to records made available by the House Ethics Committee, the attorney wrote. “Since Advance Publications is a registered lobbyist, we’ll need to be extra careful!”

“Hope the [C]ongresswoman had a great time last night! … [W]e have had a number of inquiries … Mainly from Page Six … Given that she was a guest of [V]ogue, we were planning to say … she was a guest of Anna [Wintour]’s. … wanted to check with you,” According to the New York Post, the email said.

Many watchdog organizations criticized Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for obtaining tickets that cost $35,000 apiece and sitting at an upscale table said to be worth up to $300,000. This came after a media outcry. Her choice of attire added to the suspicion once it was discovered that the ostentatious outfit was a loan from someone else. Allegations that she had employed a limousine service were the cherry on top of these concerns about how she spent the money, raising further issues about how elected officials are using public money.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez and her boyfriend were reportedly invited as “guests of Vogue” on a lavish trip, according to recently made public records from the House Ethics Committee. After their outing, a member of the Vogue crew got in touch with AOC’s team to try to twist the narrative by asking them to refer to them as Wintour’s special guests.

Due to her alleged acceptance of “impermissible gifts,” the House Office of Congressional Ethics found “substantial reason to believe” that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez breached the law by attending the 2021 Met Gala.

Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez made an iconic fashion statement by bravely wearing a dress that said “Tax the Rich” to a high-profile event. Her strong message of economic equality reverberated in its wake as her daring fashion choice instantly took fire and spread throughout social media channels.

“The nonpartisan watchdog’s board recommended in June 2022 that the House review the allegations against Ocasio-Cortez, according to documents released on Thursday. The Ethics Committee announced in December that it was investigating Ocasio-Cortez, though it did not disclose the subject of its inquiry at the time. The move led to speculation, acknowledged on Thursday, that the review had to do with her attendance at the gala,” the Washington Examiner claims.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hired a dress for the event she attended along with several accessories and cosmetic services, while she denies any related wrongdoings. Reimbursement for these costs was only made after a thorough examination of her financial situation.

According to the Office of House Ethics, if Ocasio-Cortez “accepted impermissible gifts, then she may have violated House rules, standards of conduct, and federal law.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made headlines last year when the House Ethics Committee was tasked with investigating allegations that she had taken “impermissible gifts” in exchange for attending the illustrious 2021 Met Gala.

“Pursuant to House Rule XI, clause 3(b)(8)(A), and Committee Rules 17A(b)(1)(A),17A(c)(1), and 17A(j), the Acting Chairwoman and Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics have jointly decided to extend the matter regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022,” In a press statement on December 7, the committee said.

“The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee. The Committee will announce its course of action in this matter following its organizational meeting and adoption of Committee Rules in the 118th Congress,” further stated in the publication.

Ethics watchdogs are raising concerns about the propriety of Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-participation Cortez’s in a charity event held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum. According to reports, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and her fiance received direct invitations from the museum’s organizers; but, according to House regulations, members of Congress must only get their tickets from approved third parties. It has not yet been confirmed if this breach was unintentional.

Despite strong resistance, watchdogs have stated that the proposed provision will not have an effect on the Met Gala since a for-profit organization, Condé Nast, controls the invitation process and all tables are sponsored by corporations.

At that time, a representative for the congresswoman stated: “The Congresswoman has always taken ethics incredibly seriously, refusing any donations from lobbyists, corporations, or other special interests. We are confident that this matter will be dismissed.”
