When the House Jan. 6 committee made hundreds of papers public, the investigation came to a dramatic end. This included the surprise disclosure of roughly 2,000 Social Security numbers connected to notable individuals who visited the White House in December 2020.
The Social Security numbers of numerous Republican governors, senior members of President Trump’s cabinet, and their connections were accidentally revealed in a data breach, the Washington Post reported on Friday. When “massive cache” of White House visitor records were made public by the committee in charge of their work, a serious security violation occurred. It is being looked into how this private information ended up in the public domain without permission.
Recently, a file containing 1,900 Social Security numbers that had not been redacted was made public by the Government Publishing Office (GPO) without informing the people whose data it included. Numerous persons might have been at danger for identity theft and security issues as a result of this irresponsible data publication behavior.
