On Wednesday, the FBI reacted to the Elon Musk-supported “Twitter Files” According to recently made public papers, there is a tight working relationship between the FBI and a well-known social media platform. “conspiracy theorists” are attempting to tarnish the agency.
“The correspondence between the FBI and Twitter show nothing more than examples of our traditional, longstanding and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries,” In reaction to the documents, the FBI sent the following statement to Fox News. “As evidenced in the correspondence, the FBI provides critical information to the private sector in an effort to allow them to protect themselves and their customers.”
“The men and women of the FBI work every day to protect the American public,” Then the statement went on. “It is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.”

The FBI left their statement about “conspiracy theorists” unfinished, but the agency has been carefully monitoring the recent secret document releases by Elon Musk to well-known journalists like Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Bari Weiss. Additionally, Lee Fang of The Intercept obtained a file from Musk’s secure storage.
In the weeks leading up to the 2020 General Election, Hunter Biden’s laptop tale was the subject of records that Shellenberger published this week, showing efforts by the FBI to hide information about it. The files offered compelling insight into their defense against a possible damaging leak as well as their haste to do so before Americans went to the polls.
“What I quickly put together is a pattern where it appears that FBI agents, along with former FBI agents within the company, were engaged in a disinformation campaign aimed at top Twitter and Facebook executives, as well as at top news organization executives to basically prepare them, prime them, get them set up to dismiss Hunter Biden information when it would be released,” wrote Shellenberger.
The FBI discovered 25 Twitter accounts on November 3rd that may have been disseminating false information regarding the election. One of them was Right Side Broadcasting Network, which published content with a contentious tone. To guarantee accurate poll results and openness across social media platforms, the agency moved quickly. “may warrant additional action due to the accounts being utilized to spread misinformation about the upcoming election.”

An further email from November 10 revealed that four accounts. “may potentially constitute violations of Twitter’s Terms of Service for any action or inaction deemed appropriate within Twitter policy,” based on a blog post Taibbi published earlier this month. Another stated Twitter was reviewing and processing a list of tweets that the FBI had reported for possible criminal activity. “Possible Violative Content,” included a statement disputing former governor Andrew Cuomo’s assertion on vaccination requirements.
Since the FBI’s announcement on their inquiry into the “Twitter Files,” which he had previously promoted, Elon Musk has not spoken. Multiple requests for comment were made, but the FBI never responded.
Agents from the FBI set up ongoing contact with Twitter staff to guarantee the platform’s security. The establishment of liaisons between federal investigations and social media staff members was unprecedented.
Earlier this month, Musk said that James Baker, a former general counsel for the FBI, had been “exited” from Twitter when Musk and Taibbi discovered that Baker was independently “vetting” documents that were being distributed to media without Musk’s knowledge. Baker has not addressed his alleged dismissal in the media.
Following the revelation by Taibbi of a direct communication Baker had made in October 2020 in reaction to the Hunter Biden piece in the New York Post, “more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked” but stressed that “at this stage, however, it is reasonable for us to assume that they may have been and that caution is warranted.” Users were prohibited from sharing material received by the news organization, which was apparently generated from a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden, as a result of Twitter’s first reaction to the NY Post investigation. Months before, this PC had been abandoned at a Delaware repair facility.
Now that more information has been available, House Republicans are claiming they will make an effort to get statements and records from FBI officials as soon as their majority is reclaimed in two years.
“We’re going to do more than just subpoena them. We’re going to change the course of where the FBI is today,”
In a recent Fox News interview, House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) made this statement.
