Florida’s latest early-voting figures show Republicans holding a slim advantage in overall participation, even as Democrats continue to lead among voters returning ballots by mail. The contrasting numbers highlight how different voting methods can produce sharply different snapshots of the electorate ahead of Election Day.
According to figures released by the Florida Division of Elections on Tuesday morning, registered Republicans had a combined lead of 12,766 participants over registered Democrats across early in-person voting and returned mail ballots.
The figures were recorded at 8:07 a.m., giving voters and political observers a look at participation patterns approximately one week before the November 3 midterm elections.
At that point, Florida had recorded 3,152,685 ballots cast in person or returned by mail. Of those, 1,660,398 came from early voting locations, while 1,492,287 were returned mail ballots.
