The former NFL wide receiver says a confrontation that began with dangerous driving escalated into an alarming police encounter, leaving his daughters watching as officers restrained their father.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant experienced a frightening encounter with police in Southlake, Texas, over the weekend after a dispute with two motorists escalated outside a Mexican restaurant. Officers reportedly drew a firearm and ordered Bryant and two other men to the ground before placing them in handcuffs.
The former Pro Bowl standout was eventually released with a citation for assault by contact. However, Bryant is questioning how officers handled the incident, arguing that investigators failed to adequately consider what happened before the confrontation turned physical.
The incident also took an emotional toll on Bryant because his two daughters witnessed the encounter after arriving at the scene with his girlfriend.
