Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s handling of violent offenders is drawing renewed attention as the Democrat campaigns for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
At the center of the controversy is Christopher Roseboro, a convicted murderer who received a sentence commutation during Cooper’s final days in office.
Roseboro was sentenced to death for the 1992 killing of Martha Edwards, a 72-year-old woman attacked inside her Gastonia apartment.
