The 2028 presidential election remains more than two years away, and neither party has formally chosen its nominee. Still, the political world is already consumed with speculation over the next presidential race.
One hypothetical matchup is generating particular attention: Vice President JD Vance against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
An electoral map published by the political analysis channel Election Time projects Vance defeating Ocasio-Cortez by a commanding 339–199 margin in the Electoral College. The scenario is only a projection, not a forecast of what will happen in 2028, but it offers a striking look at how the electoral map could develop if the two politicians ultimately became their parties’ nominees.
The analysis argues that an AOC nomination could produce a difficult general-election map for Democrats, particularly across the Midwest and several traditionally competitive states.
