A woman entered former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Malibu property Friday night, prompting a security response and a visit from Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
The incident itself was resolved without an arrest. But the language used by Harris’ own spokesman has sparked a broader political argument about the meaning of illegal entry — and whether the same principle should apply consistently beyond the gates of an expensive Malibu residence.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the woman entered the property while Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were away. Security personnel stopped her before she reached the house and contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which has jurisdiction over Malibu. Deputies arrived at approximately 10:30 p.m., spoke with the woman and she agreed to leave voluntarily.
No arrest was made.
