President Donald Trump’s proposal to deliver $5,000 payments to American adults is getting new attention after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick revealed how the administration believes it could finance at least part of the massive program.
And according to Lutnick, the White House is looking beyond ordinary taxpayer dollars and new federal borrowing.
“It’s not tax money,” Lutnick told NBC News while arguing that the government could “earn” the money needed for Trump’s proposed payments.
