Trump Just Handed the Army to a Rookie

President Donald Trump has made a striking leadership move at the Pentagon, elevating a relatively new Army official to serve as acting secretary of the Army at a moment when American forces are engaged in an active conflict with Iran.

Adam Telle, who had been serving as assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, was elevated to the top civilian position at the Army effective immediately Thursday night.

The decision represents a major leap for Telle. He had only entered his first Pentagon position roughly 13 months earlier, yet Trump has now placed him in charge of an Army facing enormous operational and political demands.
