A California Democrat is preparing to surrender a congressional leadership role as an ethics investigation and allegations involving his personal conduct threaten to overshadow his reelection campaign.
Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) has informed colleagues that he does not intend to continue serving as chairman of the Congressional Dads Caucus in the next Congress.
The decision comes as Gomez battles to retain his House seat while simultaneously facing scrutiny from the House Ethics Committee over allegations he strongly denies.
