Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has abandoned a proposal to build new foot-washing facilities in Terminal D after the project triggered a political firestorm and drew scrutiny from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The proposed facilities, intended to accommodate ablution washing, would have been installed inside existing men’s and women’s restrooms on the pre-security concourse of Terminal D, DFW’s primary international terminal.
But after details of the proposal became public and criticism intensified, airport officials accelerated their review and ultimately decided to kill the project.
