President Donald Trump’s flight aboard Marine One became the center of a troubling new aviation incident after the presidential helicopter and a commercial passenger jet reportedly came closer than federal separation standards allow near Washington, D.C.
The episode is drawing particular attention because it unfolded in the same heavily congested airspace where an Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional jet collided in January 2025.
That catastrophe killed 67 people.
