Spain is facing an unprecedented border emergency after a surge of migrants overwhelmed the tiny North African enclave of Ceuta, raising new concerns about Europe’s ability to control illegal immigration.
According to multiple reports, more than 49,000 migrants from Morocco entered Ceuta during a single day this week, creating scenes of chaos in a city with a population of just 83,600 people.
The dramatic influx followed a decision by Spain’s Supreme Court that significantly changed how migrants arriving by sea are treated.
