Pentagon Launches Its Biggest Leak Hunt Yet

The Pentagon is launching what may become the most far-reaching internal leak crackdown in modern Department of Defense history, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is making it clear that unauthorized disclosures of sensitive military information will no longer be treated as business as usual in Washington.

In coordination with Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Hegseth has unveiled a new framework designed to dramatically accelerate leak investigations and strengthen cooperation between the Pentagon and the Department of Justice.

The move comes amid growing frustration inside the Trump administration over repeated disclosures of sensitive defense and intelligence information to major media outlets. Administration officials argue that such leaks can jeopardize military operations, expose intelligence capabilities, and place American service members at risk.
