Noncitizen Voting Case Rocks Red State

A Louisiana voter fraud case is drawing national attention after federal prosecutors charged an Australian national and lawful permanent resident with allegedly registering to vote and casting ballots in multiple federal elections despite not being a U.S. citizen.

The case is being highlighted by state and federal officials as an example of why election integrity measures remain a major issue across the country, particularly as states increase efforts to verify voter eligibility through federal databases.

According to an indictment unsealed last month, 51-year-old Denise Nataly Migliore faces four federal charges tied to voter registration and participation in federal elections. Prosecutors allege that Migliore falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen on voter registration documents and later voted in elections for which she was not legally eligible.
