Tensions in the Middle East erupted once again Wednesday after Iran launched a new wave of missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, marking another dramatic escalation following the collapse of the short-lived ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
The latest attacks came just hours after President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire effectively dead, signaling that the United States was done attempting to negotiate with Iran after another round of hostilities.
The renewed conflict follows Tuesday’s Iranian attacks on multiple commercial vessels traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping lanes. In response, the United States launched a massive military operation against targets inside Iran overnight.
