Comments made by a sitting member of Congress during a recent television appearance are drawing renewed attention to the ongoing debate over immigration enforcement and the future of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
During an appearance on CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton discussed divisions and areas of agreement within the Democratic Party following a closely watched primary election in New York.
The conversation came after Darializa Avila Chevalier, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated longtime incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat in New York’s 13th Congressional District primary. The outcome was viewed by many political observers as another sign of growing influence from progressive activists within parts of the Democratic Party.
