A senior diversity executive at JPMorgan Chase is out of a job after a viral video appeared to show her stealing a special-edition New York Knicks trash can during the city’s championship celebration.
The incident quickly exploded across social media, not only because of the bizarre nature of the theft but because of who was allegedly involved. The woman identified in the footage had spent years building a career around diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at some of America’s largest corporations.
For many critics, the episode became a symbol of the growing disconnect between the lofty rhetoric often promoted by the DEI industry and the behavior of some of its most visible advocates.
