History has a way of revealing itself when people least expect it.
In a remarkable discovery that sounds more like the opening scene of an adventure film than a real-life event, a 6-year-old boy in Norway uncovered a Viking-era sword that had remained hidden beneath the earth for more than thirteen centuries.
The extraordinary find occurred during a school outing near the village of Brandbu, roughly 40 miles northwest of Oslo. What began as an ordinary day outside quickly turned into a significant archaeological discovery after young Henrik Refsnes Mørtvedt noticed a rusted object protruding from freshly plowed soil.
