UFC Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland says speaking his mind may have cost him a seat at one of the most anticipated sporting events in American history.
The outspoken fighter claims he was quietly removed from the guest list for President Donald Trump’s upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, and he believes he knows exactly why.
Instead of staying silent, Strickland is taking his fight outside the gates of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The June 14 event is set to make history as the first professional sporting event ever hosted on White House grounds. The special UFC card is part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration and is expected to draw thousands of invited guests along with tens of thousands of spectators gathered nearby.
But despite currently holding the UFC middleweight title, Strickland says he won’t be inside the venue.
According to the champion, UFC executives personally informed him that he would not be attending.
“I got the call,” Strickland said in a video posted to X. “The UFC higher-ups called me, you know, the big names, and they said, ‘Sean, I’ve got to apologize but you’re not Israeli enough to go to UFC 250 Israel Edition.'”
