Schumer Dodges Nazi-Tattoo Senate Candidate Question

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is facing renewed scrutiny after refusing to directly address mounting controversies surrounding Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner during a Tuesday press gaggle, instead repeatedly steering the conversation back toward party strategy and the broader goal of flipping the Senate.

The exchange, attended by reporters including the Daily Caller News Foundation, came as Platner continues to face allegations involving a Nazi-themed tattoo, explicit online behavior, and past sexually charged messages reportedly sent to multiple women. Despite repeated questions, Schumer declined to engage on the specifics, focusing instead on defeating Republican Sen. Susan Collins and reclaiming Senate control for Democrats.

When asked directly about Platner’s explanations for the controversies, one reporter pressed Schumer on whether he was satisfied with how the candidate has responded and whether he had concerns about what has emerged so far.

“Are you satisfied with the explanations he’s given for the controversies his campaign has faced right now?” a reporter asked. “Are you concerned about what you’ve heard?”
