Tom Homan Just Drew a Line in the Sand

A growing protest inside a New Jersey immigration detention facility has become the latest flashpoint in America’s immigration battle. But according to former ICE Director Tom Homan, detainees hoping a hunger strike will pressure federal authorities into releasing them are headed for disappointment.

Speaking during an appearance on Fox News with Laura Ingraham, Homan delivered a straightforward message that left little room for interpretation. The veteran immigration official, who has spent decades working in federal law enforcement, said he has witnessed similar tactics countless times before and knows exactly how these situations typically end.

The controversy centers on Delaney Hall, a detention facility in Newark, where hundreds of detainees reportedly began refusing meals and participating in a labor strike while alleging poor treatment and demanding their release. The demonstrations quickly attracted political attention, with activists gathering outside the facility and Democratic officials rushing to support the protesters.

For many on the left, the situation was framed as another example of what they describe as harsh immigration enforcement policies. For Homan, however, it was simply a familiar scenario.

“Look, I have done this since 1984,” he told Laura Ingraham on The Ingraham Angle. “Hunger strikes never work. We are not going to change what we do because someone goes on a hunger strike.”
