A shocking scandal inside the nation’s intelligence community is sending tremors through Washington after federal authorities arrested a former senior CIA official accused of stealing massive amounts of government assets and hiding them inside his Virginia home.
According to federal investigators, former CIA officer David Rush — who reportedly held top-secret security clearance and served in a management-level role at the agency — was taken into custody after the FBI uncovered an astonishing stash of wealth during a raid on his Fairfax County residence.
Agents reportedly seized nearly 300 gold bars valued at more than $40 million, along with roughly $2 million in cash and dozens of luxury watches, most of them Rolex timepieces.
The allegations have raised serious questions about how someone entrusted with America’s most sensitive intelligence operations could allegedly carry out such a brazen scheme for years without detection.
