Many conservatives already viewed Greene’s resignation as shocking. Once one of Trump’s fiercest allies on Capitol Hill, Greene spent months after leaving office launching attacks against the administration she once defended daily.
Now critics are wondering whether her Costa Rica announcement signals something even bigger.
Conservative firebrand Laura Loomer poured gasoline on the story by accusing Greene of abandoning Georgia entirely.
Loomer claimed Greene had quietly sold her Rome, Georgia home earlier this year for more than $1 million before allegedly purchasing a luxury estate in Costa Rica worth several million dollars.
The accusations quickly exploded across X.
Greene fired back almost immediately.
In a lengthy response online, Greene denied she had relocated overseas and insisted she still lives in Georgia. She said the Costa Rica trip was simply a vacation with Glenn and blasted allegations surrounding her finances.
“I’ve never been involved in ‘insider trading’, as I had signed a fiduciary contract and all of my investments were made by my financial advisor and legally reported in all of my FEC reports following the law. Oh and I didn’t make $25 million or whatever liars like Larry Loomer claim. But if anyone can point me to where that bank account is, I’d be grateful,” Greene wrote.
She also made clear the couple has developed a deep affection for Costa Rica.
“And for Costa Rica, yes Brian and I love it! It’s a beautiful country filled with beautiful people! We love to travel all over the world and will share lots of pics and videos,” the post went on.
But for many conservatives, the controversy surrounding Greene goes far beyond a vacation photo.
Her dramatic political transformation has become one of the biggest stories inside MAGA circles.
After years of branding herself as one of Trump’s most loyal defenders in Washington, Greene’s tone changed sharply following her departure from Congress. During multiple television appearances, including interviews on left-wing daytime programs, Greene openly criticized the administration and admitted she no longer viewed Trump the same way.
She also blasted key immigration policies and accused the administration of placing foreign priorities ahead of American citizens.
Those comments stunned many former supporters who once saw Greene as one of the loudest America First voices in Congress.
Now some conservatives are openly questioning whether Greene’s political future exists at all inside the MAGA movement she once helped energize.
Others believe the Costa Rica posts are part of a deliberate rebrand as Greene attempts to pivot away from electoral politics and into a media-driven celebrity role alongside Glenn.
Whatever the truth may be, Greene’s latest social media activity has once again placed her directly at the center of conservative political drama.
And judging by the reaction online, many voters are not ready to let her quietly disappear into a tropical sunset just yet.
