Abughazaleh had the backing of left-wing Representatives Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), but even their high-profile endorsements weren’t enough to secure a victory in a crowded field.
Other far-left candidates also fell short. Activist Kina Collins in the 7th District, tech entrepreneur Junaid Ahmed, and Village of Hanover Park Trustee Yasmeen Bankole in the 8th District all failed to break through, according to results highlighted by AIPAC.
The 9th District field was particularly crowded, with Skokie school board member Bushra Amiwala also running alongside Biss, Abughazaleh, and 12 other Democratic hopefuls. In that race, AIPAC threw its support behind State Senator Laura Fine (D-Chicago), who finished third behind Biss and Abughazaleh.
These losses signal a growing rejection of the far-left wing of the Democratic Party in Illinois, particularly candidates who embrace extreme positions on immigration and foreign policy. Mainstream Democrats appear to be consolidating power as the November elections approach.
Meanwhile, Republican voters are showing early signs of coalescing around a frontrunner for the 2028 presidential race. Vice President JD Vance currently leads the field, though Secretary of State Marco Rubio is gaining momentum, according to the latest Voters’ Voice Poll from The Center Square.
“The poll surveyed 952 Republicans and 225 independents who lean Republican across the country, asking them to choose from 15 prominent figures in conservative politics or select ‘someone else’ or ‘not sure,’” the outlet reported.
Vance dominated the survey, capturing 36% of Republican support—nearly double that of Donald Trump Jr., who finished second at 19%. Another 14% of respondents said they were unsure, rounding out the top 70% of participants.
Compared to an October poll, Vance’s support slipped slightly from 38% among Republicans and 41% among independents to 36% and 33%, respectively. Trump Jr. also lost ground, falling from 26% to 20% among Republicans and from 13% to 8% among right-leaning independents.
Rubio, by contrast, saw his numbers climb. Among Republicans, he doubled his support from 4% to 9%, and among independents, he surged to 15%, overtaking Trump Jr.’s 8% in that group.
Interestingly, Vance’s gender support shifted. Earlier, he performed better with women than men, but the latest poll reversed that pattern: 39% of men now back him versus 33% of women. Rubio drew 11% support from women compared to 8% from men.
The combined results in Illinois and the national polling suggest a broader theme: mainstream candidates, whether Democratic or Republican, are increasingly favored over radicals or outsiders. Illinois Democrats rejected the far-left, while Republican voters are beginning to consolidate around a clear presidential frontrunner.
Finally people woke up. The Democrats are against everything. Safety, arresting criminals, which means ICE and Police, against fuel, against white people, against saving money, taxpayer money, against guns, except criminals, against homeowners, they want everyone under the government housing program, against free speech, claim there are more than two sexes. Against parents that want to know what the heck their child is being taught. And of course whatever President Trump does good or bad, they are against. They do support DEI, CRT, Woke, transgenderism, weak judges and prosecutors, they support vaccines whether they work or not or are safe. They hate people that work for a living. Weird. So they support lazy people. They support tax increases to help their candidates, but not the American people. They support porn and other adult activities children have no business looking at. They support trans people in bathrooms and showers regardless of their sex organ, the pedophiles like kids, so it’s ok. Since some of them are pedophiles. They support violence, unless they are confronted, then they get angry that they are confronted. Weird. They love spending taxpayer money on unnecessary programs and even programs that benefit other countries, in place of Americans needs. Per Biden/Harris Americans are spoiled so everything needs to be equal. Nothing that offends anyone. Including criminals, idiots, just whatever they feel is offensive whether it makes sense or not. I wonder why they are even in the government. Nothing they do benefits anyone except themselves, and their corrupt party. Weird. So we should not even pay them. They are against God. The one that actually sent his only begotten son to die for all sinners. So they basically have an empty heart, evil. Again, why are they even in government? I guess they like raking in money, by insulting and destroying everything they touch. What a bunch of Socialist, Marxist, Communist trash. That destroys societies and freedoms. Which is what they want. Own nothing, say nothing, and just be a dumb robot. No thanks. Expose the devil in the Democrat and some Republican Parties. Also, Radical Islam and any other hate group needs to taken out of societies. No good.
