The Tweet That Set Washington on Fire

A Republican lawmaker from Tennessee is standing firm after igniting a firestorm online over comments he made following a disturbing attempted terrorist attack in New York City. Despite an intense backlash from Democrats and left-wing activists, Rep. Andy Ogles says he has no intention of retracting his remarks.

The controversy erupted after a frightening incident over the weekend in New York that authorities say could have turned deadly. According to reports, two men allegedly attempted to detonate a homemade explosive device during a protest outside the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The rally was organized by demonstrators criticizing Islamic extremism.

Investigators say the attackers hurled the explosive device toward the crowd gathered near the residence. The improvised bomb reportedly contained metal fragments and powerful explosive materials, indicating that it was designed to cause maximum harm. Thankfully, the device failed to inflict injuries, and the potentially catastrophic attack was quickly brought under control.

Authorities moved swiftly to apprehend the suspects at the scene. During the arrest, one of the individuals reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar!” as police took him into custody, further intensifying concerns about extremist motivations behind the attempted attack.
