Just In: Biden Autopen Case Abruptly Closed

A controversial investigation surrounding the use of an autopen during the presidency of Joe Biden has quietly come to an end. According to reports from major media outlets, the Justice Department has decided to shut down the case examining whether Biden or members of his staff improperly relied on an automated signature device when issuing presidential pardons.

The inquiry had been handled by the Washington, D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office, led by Jeanine Pirro. After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors ultimately decided to discontinue the criminal investigation, bringing a months-long controversy to a close—at least from a legal standpoint.

According to reporting from CBS News, officials inside Pirro’s office concluded they did not have sufficient legal grounds to move forward with charges. The probe focused on whether aides to the former president may have improperly used an autopen—a device capable of replicating a person’s signature—to authorize official clemency documents without proper oversight.

CBS reported the development citing a source familiar with the matter.
