Texas Drag Ban Now Official After Paxton Move

After nearly three years of intense courtroom battles, Texas has secured a major legal victory that could reshape how states regulate sexually explicit performances involving minors.

A federal appeals court has now cleared the way for Texas Senate Bill 12 to take effect on March 18, delivering a sharp blow to activists who fought to block the law from ever reaching enforcement.

The decision represents a significant legal triumph for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who argued the measure is about protecting children from sexually explicit performances in public settings.

For years, civil liberties groups insisted the law violated the First Amendment. But the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ultimately sided with the state.

And now the law is officially moving forward.

Federal Appeals Court Rejects Attempt to Block Texas Law

The legal fight centered around Senate Bill 12, legislation passed by the Texas Legislature in 2023 that targets sexually explicit drag performances when minors are present or when such performances occur in public spaces.
