California Democrat Ro Khanna ignited controversy after announcing that Haley Robson would be his guest for President Trump’s State of the Union address. The move immediately triggered intense debate across Capitol Hill and on social media, not because Robson lacks a story, but because of her complicated connection to one of the most infamous criminal scandals in modern history.
Robson has publicly described herself as a former teenage “recruiter” for Jeffrey Epstein. Years later, she appeared in the Netflix docuseries Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, recounting how she became entangled in Epstein’s web as a minor.
Democrats framed the invitation as an effort to spotlight survivors. Critics, however, argue that elevating someone who admitted to recruiting other girls into Epstein’s orbit creates more questions than it answers.
Epstein, who was facing federal sex trafficking charges tied to the abuse of minors, was found dead in a jail cell in Manhattan in 2019. Authorities said he was discovered with a bedsheet around his neck. The city’s medical examiner ruled the death a suicide. His death came shortly after he had been placed on suicide watch and less than 24 hours after thousands of pages of court documents were unsealed.
