The Reddit account was active on r/MtF, a community for biological males pursuing gender transitions through hormone therapy and surgical procedures. Posts under the account reveal obsessions with self-image and body transformation, fitting a disturbing pattern that appears consistent with Van Rootselaar’s online footprint.
One post, screenshot three years ago, went viral with the caption: “never let your kids watch anime.” The post, allegedly by Van Rootselaar, was titled, “How do I stop comparing myself to fictional characters?”
In it, he wrote, “I’ve been viewing a lot of anime content recently, and never went into it before,” adding that he was “pre-HRT,” meaning he had not yet begun hormone therapy.
Van Rootselaar described a troubling fixation on matching the unrealistic body shapes of fictional characters. “When it comes to their body shape n stuff, I often find myself comparing their semi-unrealistic (Yet still physically possible) shape,” he wrote, expressing frustration at not being able to meet these impossible standards and linking it to his expectations for his “transition.”
After the post resurfaced, Walsh shared the screenshot with his followers, writing, “Hate to say I told you so.” Recently, the X account Reddit Lies reposted the original screenshot, prompting Walsh to comment again, “I once again hate to say I told you so.”
Walsh’s posts were entirely innocent at the time. He had no knowledge of the man’s future violent intentions. A random Reddit comment had, tragically, foreshadowed a real-world tragedy.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. Mainstream media and leftist outlets may downplay these incidents as rare anomalies, but similar tragedies have occurred repeatedly. In 2023, a woman identifying as a man murdered children in Nashville, Tennessee. Last year, a man identifying as a woman killed children in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Psychologists warn that extreme gender delusions combined with hormone therapy and identity reinvention can contribute to dangerous mental instability. When individuals fixate on radical self-transformation, they can descend into violent nihilism.
The Post Millennial compiled other violent incidents linked to transgender or non-binary individuals. In 2022, a “non-binary” man killed six people at a gay nightclub. These shootings extend back to at least 2018, with perpetrators citing “transphobic” targets as motivation.
This pattern illustrates a chilling truth: these tragedies are not merely isolated mental health crises. They reflect a radical ideology that can foster hatred, resentment, and even murderous intent. Van Rootselaar’s story serves as a grim warning of how extreme identity delusions, when left unchecked, can lead to devastating violence.
