NBC News reported that Savannah Guthrie thanked the president for his outreach and shared that the family was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. At that point, she emphasized that what they needed most were prayers, as investigators continued working without a clear suspect or breakthrough.

As of Wednesday morning, Arizona authorities and the FBI confirmed that no person of interest had been identified in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Despite the lack of concrete leads, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos expressed cautious hope.

He told NBC News that he believes Nancy Guthrie is still alive, while acknowledging the emotional toll of the uncertainty, stating there is “nothing else to go but the belief.”

Later that same day, Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings made a direct public appeal, releasing an emotional video message asking for the safe return of their mother. The video, shared across social media, marked the family’s first collective plea as investigators continued treating the case as an active and serious crime.

Addressing anyone who may be holding her mother, Guthrie urged them to make contact and provide proof that Nancy Guthrie is alive. She acknowledged media reports suggesting ransom demands had surfaced and said the family was prepared to engage — but only under strict conditions.

“Momma, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you,” Savannah Guthrie said, standing alongside her siblings.

She continued by describing her mother’s character and the deep loss felt by the entire family.

“She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses,” Savannah Guthrie said. “She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her, and you’ll see.”

Guthrie made clear that the family is willing to talk with whoever may be responsible but warned that deception will not work.

“However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” she said, explaining that proof of life is required before any discussions can move forward.

Multiple media outlets reported receiving alleged ransom notes earlier this week. TMZ, along with Tucson-area affiliates of CNN, KOLD, and KGUN, claimed the messages demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.

Those outlets also reported that the notes referenced specific details allegedly tied to evidence found inside Guthrie’s home, where authorities believe she was last seen late Saturday night. Sheriff Nanos declined to verify whether the information matched the crime scene but confirmed to CBS News that investigators shared the notes with Savannah Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing after she failed to attend a planned Sunday morning church service. Concerned family members went to her Tucson-area residence and quickly contacted authorities when they realized something was wrong.

Investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will. Law enforcement has described the residence as showing signs consistent with a crime in progress, including evidence of forced entry and other troubling indicators.

Authorities are now piecing together a timeline using available digital and physical evidence. A source familiar with the investigation revealed that Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker last transmitted a signal to her iPhone around 2 a.m. Sunday. However, her phone was later found inside the house.

Officials have stressed that no suspects have been named and that the investigation remains active. Local deputies are continuing to work closely with federal partners as they pursue every possible lead.

Given Nancy Guthrie’s age, limited mobility, and dependence on daily medication, concerns about her health and safety continue to intensify. Law enforcement has urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact authorities immediately as the search continues.
