House Speaker Mike Johnson sent shockwaves through Washington on Wednesday when he openly endorsed impeaching federal judges he says have abused their power to sabotage the president. This time, Johnson didn’t speak in hypotheticals. He pointed directly at specific judges and made clear that patience inside the House GOP conference is running out.
Speaking to reporters during his weekly press conference, Johnson acknowledged that impeachment is not a tool Congress should use lightly—but argued that the current situation demands bold action.
“Impeachment, as we have discussed all together many, many times, is an extreme measure,” Johnson said at his weekly press conference. “But extreme times call for extreme measures.”
