Only three Democrats even attempted to engage. Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel answered directly, while Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg offered carefully worded non-answers, revealing a deep fear of angering the radical left.
Emanuel didn’t mince words. When conservative host Megyn Kelly asked him last year about these issues, he said plainly, “Can a man become a woman? Not — no.” He added that biological boys shouldn’t compete in girls’ sports and that children under 18 are too young to make life-altering decisions about gender transition.
When Axios followed up to ask if he had changed his position, Emanuel doubled down. “I’m now going to go into a witness protection plan,” he joked with Kelly, acknowledging the predictable backlash from the woke mob.
And the backlash is real. Representative Seth Moulton of Massachusetts faced severe criticism after saying he didn’t want his daughters competing against boys in sports. Under pressure, he even voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, despite his stated beliefs. Emanuel, however, represents a different breed—one willing to speak uncomfortable truths despite the cost.
Gavin Newsom and AOC, meanwhile, continue to dodge these questions. Shapiro’s response was telling: he deflected to “local sports officials,” refusing to take a clear stance. He did acknowledge that transgender kids “don’t deserve an unfair advantage on the playing field” but stopped short of addressing whether boys should be banned from girls’ sports.
Buttigieg’s spokesperson offered a similar dodge, pointing to a prior NPR interview where he noted “serious fairness issues” but called for “compassion.” In other words, he knows the policy is wrong but won’t say so clearly, lest he anger the radical left ahead of 2028.
This contrast is stark. Emanuel’s honesty highlights why Democrats continue to struggle with voters. Exit polls showed 85% of Trump voters believe support for transgender rights has gone too far. Even 25% of Harris voters agreed. Republicans leveraged this in 2024, spending over $200 million on ads exposing Democrats’ radical positions.
Democrats have painted themselves into a corner. They pushed laws forcing schools to allow boys in girls’ locker rooms, championed taxpayer-funded gender surgeries for minors, and declared transgender equality “the civil rights issue of our time.” Kamala Harris even supported gender reassignment surgery for detained illegal aliens—a position confirmed by fact-checkers during the 2024 debates.
Now, with the public rejecting these extremes, Democrats either must admit they were wrong or continue to dodge the issue entirely. Emanuel has shown honesty is possible. But the silence from Harris, AOC, Newsom, and most of the 2028 field shows courage is in dangerously short supply.
The question remains: can Democrats regain credibility with voters, or will their silence on biological realities continue to cost them elections?

What is so difficult to come up with the easiest solution ever for transgender. You just need to initiate a transgender male team and a transgender female team. Then everyone is playing on equal ground.
If the people pushing for males to play in female sports, then they are really stupid. All they’re doing is causing more confusion.
Simply make two new sports teams, problem solved. Transgender males and transgender female teams!
Get your heads out of your asses and make up the two teams! It’s not rocket scientists work or do you not even have brains to even come up with such an easy solution. After all this only takes a grade school education to figure it out.
The way it appears you really do not want to solve the problem, you’d rather just keep causing the havoc and having females lose to a transgender male when that is REALLY CHEATING! But perhaps cheating is the only way you understand. It is way past time you got out of politics by resigning or getting voted out!!!!
