The ICE agent involved in last week’s Minneapolis shooting that left Renee Good dead suffered internal bleeding to his torso during the encounter, according to U.S. officials familiar with his condition.
The exact severity of the bleeding has not been disclosed. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the injury but declined to provide additional details.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem previously reported that the agent, Jonathan Ross, was taken to a hospital following the Jan. 7 shooting and was released later the same day. She emphasized that Ross, a seasoned law enforcement officer, acted in self-defense while protecting his colleagues.
“The officer was hit by the vehicle. She hit him. He went to the hospital. A doctor did treat him. He has been released,” Noem told reporters on Jan. 7.
