Former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino delivered a powerful farewell message over the weekend as he officially stepped away from government service, closing a chapter that capped off nearly a year inside one of Washington’s most intense institutions.
Bongino, a longtime conservative commentator and former Secret Service agent, marked his final day on Saturday night with a public statement thanking President Donald Trump, top administration officials, and the American people for what he described as the honor of a lifetime.
The announcement followed his earlier decision to step down, which he revealed on December 17. At the time, Bongino made it clear his departure was not taken lightly.
“I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January. I want to thank President Trump, AG Bondi, and Director Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose. Most importantly, I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you. God bless America, and all those who defend Her,” Bongino said.
While Bongino did not publicly spell out every reason behind his exit, President Trump addressed the matter directly when speaking with reporters, offering praise for Bongino’s service and hinting at what could come next.
