Authorities in Broward County are still hunting for the woman behind a shocking and unprovoked attack on a 70-year-old bus rider in Lauderdale Lakes. Nearly a month after the assault, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office has released disturbing surveillance footage and is now offering a substantial reward in hopes of identifying the suspect.
The newly released video reveals the frightening incident, which unfolded on October 21 onboard a Broward County Transit bus. What began as a routine ride for an elderly woman quickly turned into a chaotic and violent encounter that has left the community outraged.
According to investigators, the older woman—who was seated near the front of the bus—politely asked a much larger female passenger to give her some room after being repeatedly bumped. What happened next was so vicious, many who have viewed the footage are stunned it occurred in broad daylight with other passengers present.
And of course, as countless online commenters have noted, if the races in this situation were reversed, the national media would be screaming “hate crime” from every mountaintop. But in this case? Silence.
