Now, federal investigators say they’ve finally found the man behind one of California’s most destructive infernos — and the evidence that exposed him is as disturbing as it gets.

FBI Arrests Florida Man for Deadly California Arson

Federal agents on Tuesday arrested 29-year-old Jonathan Rinderknecht of Melbourne, Florida, accusing him of sparking the Pacific Palisades fire that tore through Los Angeles in January.

The Justice Department confirmed the charges, saying Rinderknecht — who also used the names “Jonathan Rinder” and “Jon Rinder” — is charged with destruction of property by means of fire.

Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli told reporters that evidence collected from Rinderknecht’s digital devices revealed something chilling:

“Rinderknecht had used ChatGPT to generate an image of a burning city.”

Let that sink in. Before a single match was struck, this man was apparently fantasizing about mass destruction on his computer.
