According to Fox News, the redirected tariff revenue will fund the WIC program “for the foreseeable future,” guaranteeing that low-income mothers will continue to receive vital nutrition assistance while Congress remains in gridlock.
For decades, WIC has provided debit cards for mothers to buy essentials such as baby formula, milk, eggs, fruits, and vegetables — items that are often the difference between nourishment and hunger for struggling families. The money Trump is using to fund WIC comes from tariffs his administration imposed on foreign goods — primarily through Section 232, which allows tariffs on the basis of national security.
