She added that President Trump’s quick thinking is what saved the day.
“Thankfully, President Trump and the White House have identified a creative solution to transfer resources from Section 232 tariff revenue to this critical program. The Trump White House will not allow impoverished mothers and their babies to go hungry because of the Democrats’ political games.”
The Democrats are so cruel in their continual votes to shut down the government that they forced the WIC program for the most vulnerable women and children to run out this week.

According to Fox News, the redirected tariff revenue will fund the WIC program “for the foreseeable future,” guaranteeing that low-income mothers will continue to receive vital nutrition assistance while Congress remains in gridlock.
For decades, WIC has provided debit cards for mothers to buy essentials such as baby formula, milk, eggs, fruits, and vegetables — items that are often the difference between nourishment and hunger for struggling families. The program, which cost taxpayers about $7.6 billion in fiscal year 2025, serves millions of families each month.
The money Trump is using to fund WIC comes from tariffs his administration imposed on foreign goods — primarily through Section 232, which allows tariffs on the basis of national security. Those tariffs have generated a staggering $190 billion this year alone. Rather than letting that revenue sit idle, Trump found a way to put it to immediate use for American families.
But, as usual, the establishment media and their allies in the bureaucracy couldn’t resist taking shots. CNN immediately ran to so-called “budget experts” to question whether Trump’s decision was legal without congressional approval.
🚨 BREAKING: President Trump just SAVED the Women and Children's Food Program from losing money under the Democrats' federal shutdown.
This is because $200 BILLION came in from Trump's tariffs and some of that money will keep the program running.
Chris Towner, policy director at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, told CNN,
“The problem isn’t that they don’t have the money — it’s that Congress hasn’t told them they can spend it.”
The White House didn’t bother to play CNN’s game, simply referring the network back to Leavitt’s public statement — a clear sign that the administration is focused on action, not political posturing.
Trump announces he will use tariff revenue to fund WIC — a program for millions of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and young children.
Democrats shutdown the government so they can give healthcare to illegal aliens.
Even before this innovative move, the Department of Agriculture had already stepped in to protect the program by allocating up to $150 million to state WIC agencies to cover potential shortfalls. But Trump’s plan goes much further — ensuring the program’s stability beyond temporary patches.
This is classic Trump: a businessman-turned-leader using real-world solutions instead of bowing to red tape. While Democrats posture and point fingers, Trump delivers results. He’s ensuring that American mothers and infants are cared for — even while his political opponents try to weaponize the shutdown to score partisan points.
At a time when Washington seems paralyzed by dysfunction, Trump’s actions stand as a reminder of what leadership looks like. While others argue, he acts. While others stall, he solves.
Thanks to President Trump’s decision, the WIC program remains funded, babies will be fed, and struggling families will get the support they need — all without a single vote from the obstructionist Democrats who caused the crisis in the first place.
