Trump Just Found His Way to Slash the Swamp

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

The president said Vought has been tasked with presenting a plan to slash federal payrolls and eliminate unnecessary spending across multiple agencies. Trump added that he wants options for whether these reforms should be short-term adjustments or long-lasting structural changes.

The shutdown officially began late Tuesday after Democrats rejected a Republican proposal to keep the government funded for seven more weeks while negotiations continued. Instead of putting Americans first, Democrats dug in their heels. Trump and GOP lawmakers argue that the Left is holding up funding to secure new health benefits for illegal immigrants—an accusation that Democrats have refused to clearly deny.

Before the deadline hit, Trump had already warned Democrats that their political brinksmanship would have consequences. He made it clear that he was prepared to make “irreversible” spending cuts if negotiations collapsed. “Republicans do not want a shutdown,” Trump insisted, but he also promised he would not let the standoff go to waste.

Vice President J.D. Vance weighed in as well, placing blame squarely on Democratic leadership. He argued that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is less concerned about America’s well-being and more worried about fending off a potential primary challenge from the far-left.

“But the reality here, and let’s be honest about the politics, is that Chuck Schumer is terrified he’s going to get a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” Vance explained. “The reason why the American people’s government is shut down is because Chuck Schumer is listening to the far-left radicals in his own party because he’s terrified of a primary challenge.”

That political fear, according to Vance, is driving the chaos that has left Washington in gridlock. By refusing to budge, Democrats are showing they’d rather please the radical wing of their party than keep basic government services operating.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt backed up Trump’s claim that the Left’s real priority is handing out Obamacare benefits to illegal immigrants, despite the fact that America is drowning in $37 trillion of debt.

“To put this all into perspective, the Democrats refused to keep the government open over healthcare to illegal aliens and now have jeopardized critical health care programs for American citizens,” Leavitt said. “Instead, the women, infants, and children program, community health center funding, Medicare treatment options, and other health programs are now all at risk because of the Democrats’ rejecting the clean C.R. [continuing resolution].”

For everyday Americans, the message couldn’t be clearer: Democrats are willing to gamble with essential healthcare and critical programs for families just to secure another giveaway for illegal immigrants. Trump, on the other hand, is seizing the moment to confront Washington’s waste and redirect the focus back to American citizens.

With Democrats doubling down and Republicans holding the line, the shutdown may drag on. But for Trump, this fight is about more than funding bills—it’s about exposing the Left’s priorities and showing Americans the difference between a government working for its people and one working for globalist interests.
