The memo also singled out so-called “soft targets” — places like concerts, sports arenas, and public gatherings — as areas that need heightened security. Local law enforcement agencies were advised to visibly increase police presence, step up patrols, and hold pre-event security briefings to disrupt any potential plots before they unfold.
Importantly, the center emphasized that the goal wasn’t to create panic but to equip law enforcement with the information they need to stop attacks before they happen.
While the government’s advisory was troubling enough, investigative journalist and conservative activist Laura Loomer issued even stronger warnings Friday night. On X, formerly Twitter, Loomer wrote:
“Sources tell me tonight that the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) has officially determined that Islamic terrorists affiliated with Al Qaeda have infiltrated U.S. soil and are actively planning a series of coordinated Islamic terror attacks.”
She continued, “This marks the first time federal counterterrorism officials have openly acknowledged the immediacy of such threats.”
According to Loomer, terrorists are reportedly buying police and EMT uniforms from surplus stores and online vendors so they can impersonate first responders. The goal, she warned, is to blend in during an attack, mislead the public, and then launch additional strikes while people are already in chaos.
Even more disturbing, Loomer said terrorists have scouted hospitals and trauma centers in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Miami. By targeting emergency rooms, they could delay medical treatment and dramatically increase casualties.
One Homeland Security source, Loomer claimed, called the scenario “horrific beyond comprehension.”
These revelations are a reminder that, despite two decades of counterterrorism operations, the threat from Islamist terror groups has not vanished. In fact, in June, Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, the leader of al-Qaida in Yemen, released a 34-minute video explicitly calling for jihad against the United States.
The video even called for the assassination of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, saying, “There are no boundaries left after what has occurred — and continues to occur — to our people in Gaza.”
On 9/11, al-Qaida killed nearly 3,000 Americans. Since then, the group has shifted tactics, inspired lone-wolf attackers, and taken advantage of unstable regions across the Middle East and North Africa.
Officials warn the threat environment now blends both foreign and domestic elements — making constant vigilance more critical than ever.
