According to Fox News Digital, sources close to the case confirmed the FBI is actively looking into leftist groups in Utah for possible ties to the alleged shooter.

“The source told Fox News Digital that the FBI is investigating the leftist groups to see if they knew about the alleged shooter’s plans beforehand or provided any assistance to him. The source did not elaborate on which groups are being investigated,” the outlet reported.

Axios was the first to reveal the FBI’s involvement, but the story quickly spread across the media as calls for accountability grew louder.

On Capitol Hill, House Republicans wasted no time pushing for a formal investigation into what they’re calling “radical left” networks tied to political violence.

Just one day after Kirk was gunned down during his “American Comeback Tour” event at Utah Valley University, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson calling for a new select committee to probe left-wing extremism.

The letter, backed by 22 other GOP lawmakers, made it clear this isn’t an isolated incident.

“We must take every step to follow the money and uncover the force behind the NGOs, donors, media, public officials, and all entities driving this coordinated attack,” Roy wrote. He pointed to the 2024 assassination attempt on President Trump and the 2017 congressional baseball shooting as evidence of a growing pattern of politically motivated violence against conservatives.

If approved, the committee would have subpoena power and investigate groups like Antifa and left-wing mega-donors such as George Soros, long criticized by Republicans for fueling radical movements.

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., stressed the danger of ignoring the trend.

“Political violence of any kind is unacceptable, no matter who commits it,” Norman said. “But let’s not pretend this is an even playing field. In recent years, we’ve seen organized and well-funded efforts from the radical left to intimidate, disrupt, silence, and even justify violence against Americans they don’t agree with.”

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, speaking with Fox News host Sean Hannity, said the administration would use every resource available to root out domestic extremists.

“The Democrat Party, its pundits, its allies, the educators, for 10 years have waged a campaign of eliminationist rhetoric against President Trump, against Republicans, against MAGA, against Trump officials,” Miller said. “This is willful and deliberate radicalization.”

He blasted universities for serving as “incubators for extremism” and warned those involved in political violence that Trump’s administration would hold them accountable.

“The power of law enforcement under President Trump’s leadership will be used to find you, will be used to take away your money, take away your power, and if you’ve broken the law, to take away your freedom,” Miller vowed.
