JUST IN: E. Jean Carroll Verdict SHOCKER!

A federal appeals court delivered another legal setback for former President Donald Trump on Monday, refusing to overturn a civil suit brought by E. Jean Carroll. Carroll claims Trump sexually assaulted her in a New York department store dressing room in the mid-1990s.

Trump had vigorously sought to block the case, arguing that the 2024 U.S. Supreme Court ruling granting presidents immunity from official acts should protect him. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals rejected that argument, echoing an earlier lower court decision, and let Carroll’s judgment stand, according to Reuters.

The case dates back to 2019, when Carroll filed her lawsuit alleging Trump sexually assaulted her at Bergdorf Goodman. While a jury did not find Trump guilty of rape, it did rule in Carroll’s favor on defamation and battery claims, resulting in a total award of $83.3 million.
