Texas Democrats are scrambling after Republicans pushed forward a major mid-decade redistricting overhaul — one that could completely erase the seat currently held by far-left Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and force her out of the district she represents.
Crockett, a freshman lawmaker from Dallas who has built a reputation for fiery outbursts, is among the loudest voices opposing the Republican plan. The proposal dismantles five Democrat-controlled congressional districts across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and South Texas — reshaping the political map in a way that could give the GOP a decisive edge in the 2026 midterms.
One of the biggest shake-ups hits Crockett’s 30th Congressional District. Under the proposed lines, she wouldn’t even live within the new boundaries — a nightmare scenario for any re-election campaign.
“I currently don’t live in the [Congressional District] 30 that they created… that’s not where I live now,” Crockett admitted. “They are supposed to take that into consideration, and these are some of the things that the court will look at when they’re trying to determine whether or not there were problems with creating the maps. It’s really awful.”
