President Donald Trump just dropped a major hint about who could carry the MAGA mantle into the 2028 election—and all eyes are now on Vice President JD Vance.
While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Trump didn’t make an official endorsement, but he made his thoughts crystal clear. When asked directly whether Vance would lead the movement after 2028, Trump responded, “I think most likely. He’s the Vice President.” The message? Vance is in prime position to take the baton.
But that wasn’t the only name Trump floated. In a curveball that’s already turning heads in Washington, Trump also mentioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio as a potential running mate—or at least a major player alongside Vance in the next era of Republican leadership.
“Marco is somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form,” Trump noted, before adding that his administration is full of “incredible people” who could be instrumental in building the next phase of MAGA’s dominance.
