Trying to play the race card, Crockett declared the map a “hot mess” and insinuated that the GOP’s intention was racially motivated. She pointed out that several Black Democrats, including Trump-hating Rep. Al Green — infamous for his repeated, failed impeachment stunts — would be impacted.
“It is a hot mess, and it is so sad that these people have no integrity and could care less about doing what’s right,” Crockett complained.
Clearly rattled, she called the redistricting plan “awful” and implied it was a scheme to weaken minority influence.
“They are supposed to take that into consideration, and these are some of the things that the court will look at when they’re trying to determine whether or not there were problems with creating the maps. It’s really awful.”
But Crockett didn’t stop there. In typical dramatic fashion, she called on her followers to “rise up” in response to what she sees as a political ambush.
“They want to exhaust us, and I want us to dig deep and show them even more energy than they could have ever imagined coming from us, us being we, the people,” she urged.
“We are the state that actually brought the country Roe v. Wade; it is time for us to rise.”
Let that irony sink in — she’s referencing Roe v. Wade in a state where conservative values are roaring back stronger than ever.
Then came the meltdown on social media. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Crockett unleashed a tirade, accusing Republicans of playing dirty and stealing votes.
“Republicans in Texas just rolled out their proposed Congressional map that cut 5 Democratic seats out of thin air. Let’s be clear: these maps are not about representation, it’s a power grab to silence voters and suppress votes. They know their policies are unpopular, and they are afraid of losing. So what do they try to do? Cheat. If your big idea is ‘cheat harder,’ maybe it’s time to rethink your politics.”

Crockett’s furious reaction may play well with the progressive base, but her claims of racial injustice and “cheating” are unlikely to hold water in court. Redistricting is a routine part of the political process — and it’s one that Democrats have exploited for decades when it suited their purposes.
Now that the tables are turning, the left is crying foul.
If the map is finalized as proposed, Crockett will need to either move or fight a much tougher battle to hold onto her seat. Either way, Texas Republicans just threw a wrench into the Democrats’ plans — and Jasmine Crockett is watching her safe blue seat slip through her fingers.
