What followed was a scathing rebuke from Vance aimed directly at the attackers and the growing epidemic of unchecked street violence:
“What I saw is a mob of lawless thugs beating up on an innocent person, and it’s disgusting,” Vance said. “I hope every single one of those people who engage in violence is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Vance didn’t sugarcoat it. He noted that Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost was serious about restoring order, and that the state would respond forcefully if local officials did their jobs. The Vice President acknowledged that he had received footage from Sen. Bernie Moreno and had discussed the matter with him, expressing particular disgust at one moment in the clip:

“The one part that I saw that was really gruesome is you had a grown man who sucker-punched a middle-aged woman. And where I come from, at least, when you have a grown man who sucker punches a middle-aged woman, that person ought to go to jail for a very long time,” Vance said.
Then he went even further.
“And frankly, he’s lucky there weren’t some better people around because they would have handled it themselves,” Vance warned. “But if they’re not going to handle it, the cops in Cincinnati, the law enforcement, you’ve got to prosecute people.”
Vance painted a broader picture of the decline in urban safety — from Columbus to Akron to Canton — blaming weak local leadership for caving to lawlessness and leaving families afraid to walk city streets.
“If you want to take your wife or your children out for a meal, you shouldn’t be worried about street violence,” Vance said. “And the only way to destroy that street violence is to take the thugs who engage in that violence and throw their aes in prison.”**
As of Monday, five individuals have been arrested in connection to the assault. Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge confirmed the charges, though declined to name the suspects. She warned that more arrests were likely.
“We have five we have charged, and anticipate more,” she told reporters.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday and was captured on video. One man was seen being stomped while curled up on the ground, and a woman was knocked out cold, blood pouring from her mouth after she tried to intervene.
Ohio gubernatorial hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy also weighed in, revealing he spoke to the female victim, a single mother named Holly, who had received no outreach from city or state leaders.
“She’s a single working mom who went to a friend’s birthday party,” he said. “It’s unconscionable that there were no police present in that area of Cincinnati on a Friday night, or even an ambulance to take her to the hospital.”
Ken Kober, president of Cincinnati’s Fraternal Order of Police, confirmed the injuries were “pretty serious” and that the victims would need time to recover.
For Vance and many Americans, the scene was another wake-up call about the erosion of public safety under progressive leadership. He’s calling on law enforcement and elected officials to act — before more innocent families fall victim.
One thing is crystal clear from Vance’s response: the gloves are off.
