Schiff, who served in the U.S. House for over two decades before moving to the Senate, has long faced questions about his real residence. Public records and investigative reporting suggest Schiff played a dangerous shell game with his home addresses, possibly to secure financial perks and evade proper tax obligations.
According to prior reports from The Gateway Pundit, Schiff has repeatedly claimed that his primary home is in Maryland—a state that offers more favorable mortgage rates and property tax exemptions for full-time residents. But at the same time, Schiff continued to vote in California and claim a tiny condo in Burbank as his other “primary” residence.
One concerned California citizen reportedly brought the issue into the spotlight in April 2023, leading to renewed scrutiny. That individual submitted documentation showing that Schiff’s property in Montgomery County, Maryland—an upscale 3,420-square-foot residence—was being treated as his primary home for financial gain, despite Schiff still actively serving as a California Congressman.
Schiff refinanced the Maryland home at least four times between 2009 and 2013, securing benefits only available to those who live full-time in the state. Critics say this allowed him to cheat the system while living a double life across state lines.
In one instance in 2009, a House Ethics Committee reportedly questioned Schiff’s filings. He later claimed the mistake was inadvertent and repaid some of the improperly claimed tax benefits. But the pattern continued, casting serious doubt on his claims of ignorance.
It’s worth noting that Schiff isn’t the first lawmaker to face scrutiny over residency fraud. Former Republican Congressman Steve Watkins of Oklahoma was hit with criminal charges in a similar case. He was accused of improperly claiming a UPS store as his residence to vote in a different district.
The big question now: Will Schiff face the same consequences? For many Americans, the answer seems obvious.
Schiff, a high-profile Democrat and longtime critic of President Trump, is unlikely to be held to the same standards. In today’s two-tiered justice system, it appears Democrats walk free while conservatives face relentless prosecution.
This isn’t just about a technicality. It’s about trust, integrity, and whether lawmakers are held to the rule of law—or given a free pass based on party affiliation.
As the calls for accountability grow louder, it remains to be seen whether any legal action will be taken against “Crooked Schiff,” or if this bombshell report will be quietly swept under the rug by the Biden DOJ.
But one thing’s for sure: President Trump isn’t letting this one go. And neither should the American people.
